This file has already been tested and proven...if he cannot flash with it then he must have an umbutu drive which requires special programs to insert the service tag into the file and only shakeyplace at the dell forum can help him.

/edit: Nevermind, I figured out that the error message was because I didn't add the .ROM file on the flash drive (thought it was useless).

Flashing worked fine, laptop still boots. Will report back if act*vation works.

Hey guys, i just joined this forum.

I was hoping that somebody can help me with this aching problem that i have.

I wonder if anybody has modded any p78xx bios version, so that it supports quad core cpus.

Also, has any p7808u holder tried to dump the bios?

Or has anybody tried to flash a gateway p78xx with a packard bell gx series bios rom? And if so, where can i download this rom file, because i've been squashing my brains out to find any kind of solution to this problem.

Finally, if somebody can explain why the intel q9000 works on gateway p7808u and not on other p78 models, if somebody has this laptop, can you please post a everest ultimate edition motherboard report, because i want to see the big difference between this model and the others, i wonder what gives it the edge to support quads.

Is it a bios or hardware issue (perhaps power consumption - motherboard power supply to the cpu)

Thanks a lot for any answers to my questions
