Hi, I have a HP xw9300 which has a HP version of Tyan K8WE S2895 motherboard. I was wondering if this would work on my xw9300, I would have to turn the flash protection off but my main concern is that it is a HP and not Dell... think it would work? -serper
i am not sure if i understand your question, before flashing you need to make sure the bios is exactly for your motherboard. if the modded bios has been modded with Dell SLIC or other OEM, it does not matter, but it's a bit inconsistent if your system is HP and has Dell SLIC.
Thanks for looking into the issue, i think we both hit the same wall at the same time, by the time I came back to give feedback i could see your edit. BTW a little off topic, but the new BIOS revision supplied by Dell is same for OS less as well with OS 1564s. So the Dell BIOS flash does not "touch" the SLIC table at all? Or it looks for a marker and flashes the "correct" version in BIOS minus the SLIC table? Wishful thinking is, could it be possible to "trick" the flash utility into flashing the new BIOS with the SLIC table? A little new to this business, you see.
I just tried to Tick "Only Alter RSDT and XDST Tables", the tool managed to mod the bios successfully, but until you flash it, you would never know.
Thanks for the info! I was unsure if it should go in Phoenix or Award, I'll post in the Award thread though. Thanks again.
