I think a GATEWASYSTEM string did not get changed. I would be curious about the RSDT and SLIC OEMID strings...

I have changed a couple lately...

The readme-file included in the 7720 BIOS says:
    Model:
    Extensa 7220
    Extensa 7620
    Extensa 7620G
    Extensa 7620Z
    TravelMate 7320
    TravelMate 7720
    TravelMate 7720G

The readme-file included in the 5220 BIOS says:
    Model:
    Extensa 5220
    Extensa 5620
    Extensa 5620G
    Extensa 5620Z
    Extensa 5620ZG
    TravelMate 5320
    TravelMate 5720
    TravelMate 5720G

But all the files are the same. Hmm...?? To flash (and risk a brick) or not to flash - that's the question :)

No idea how I missed that one!
Many thanks for the mod (and the reminder!).
I'll give it a whirl and report back.

Then it should be okay to flash.
If it is already tested and working even better.

Yup, welcome to the world of Sony. I had the smae error...I have read (square eyes) loads of info on the Sony Bios as mine is the Brick reported in this forum. I think Sony bios's require a "platform.bin" as well to phlash in dos....anyhoo...Recommend this option is not for the faint hearted. See if you can get your laptop to run a crisdisk like your bios has died...if you can get your floppy to read..then you may have a chance of recovery...if not..then you have no fall back.

I've also read having two memory module in when flashing is a risk too??? but thought I'd share.

    Cheers
