Not looking so good.. At first it went as planned, flashed the bios and asked to restart the pc. Restarted and heard a few beebs and a text saying defaults have been loaded.. So the bios reverted back to normal :/ f**k... Now i am trying with a different tool (older) to make the bootable usb. There is one issue tough, the COMMAND.COM file in the "bootable_1.44M.rar" file (modded bios) cant be used to make the bootable usb drive. I have to use the command.com file of the bootable usb programs (boot folder). Then i cant put the COMMAND.COM file to the usb because there allready is one ? WTF, i guess something is not right now.. Growing gray hair allready.. Oh and one time (when moved the content of the modded bios rar to the usb) it asked to overwrite and i pressed ok. Restarted and it just said that command.com is corrupt or something (no visible flash).. restarted and went to bios and there were NEW SETTINGS !? WTF ? Then restarted and those were gone.. Loosing my mind maybe :/ Just to be sure, i dont have any folders at the bootable usb just the files directly at the root. Should i make a folder ? Then i would get the command.com file from the modded bios rar to the usb aswell. And should i rename the MAU5.07 to MAU5.07.rom or something ? Update: BIOS update or CHECKSUM issue, thats what it says after flashed and restart. Loads defaults... Im kinda stuck here..
What do i do now ? i am now trying to make bootable usb with the files inside the "modded bios rar". It wont allow me to do that when using fat32, if i use just fat it allows me to do that. That cant be right ? Perfectly stuck here
As far I get, ur bios mod is successful... defaults loaded means default setting are loaded Turn off the pc, remove the pendrive, then start again. Get into Windows, check with SLIC Dump Toolkit!!
It says (on advanced tab) SLIC is version 2.1, Digital signature OK, Bios 5.07, but there is a red text saying ---> "No OEM Certificate found !(Run as Adminstrator)" <--- and a red button with a text "Cert. Error" So if the flash worked, where are the new settings !? There was one time when appeared new settings (like SSE options and stuff) but now those are gone. Nothing changed :/
Ok, no problem. I used the tools found from the SLIC tool kit. Installed the OEM XRM-MS file for HP and now the slic toolkit shows certificate OK. So i think i am done. Thanks everyone for your time Update: Ok so i investigated a little more and found out what the slic 2.1 is for.. Now i know that i didn't even need to do this flash, because the HP bios allready includes 2.1 for to make windows 7 install and activation possible.. I tought all this time that this was a modified bios that unlocks more settings for me, but as i see it didn't.. So, does someone have MODDED BIOS for touchsmart iq820sc ? And with this i don't mean the SLIC 2.1 addition, because at least here in Finland we dont need it.. Thx anyway, at least i learned a lot
<bump> I am trying to apply a functioning SLIC to a Dell GX520. I get an error using the slic tool on the Advanced screen, that the version (now QA09, originally M09) is invalid. Screen captures of the SLIC Tool, along with the bin file it generates, are located on page 1817 of this thread. (Post #18168) If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
