Firstly, you don't have a windows.old, period. You did a upgrade, there won't be a windows.old, so don't bother to find it. Back to your question, if you mean reset windows, plug in the win8 DVD(or USB FD) -> repair windows Also, I heard that if your win8.1 has a restore point in win8, then you can also "restore" the OS to win8 ..... haven't tried it too.
Murphy78, I reinstalled Windows 8.1 AIO 7in1 x64 en-US Sep10-2013 because if I installed Windows 8.0 Pro VL x64 en-US Pre-Activated Sep2013, I'd lose everything (I'm a pauper and cannot afford a backup disk to transfer all my data). Needless to say, I left it alone. I read in the instructions to use the installation key and then gvlk key. I did what it said (SLUI 3), then the gvlk key. It said, "This key didn't work, please check and try again, or try a different key." Strike one. Next to Windows Toolkit 2.4.9. I plugged the details in (checked the register to make sure the gvlk was available and it was; so I installed it). I went to the activation tab and clicked "EZ Activator." An error came up. The error code: 0xC004F074 and the error text:The Software Licensing Service reported that the product could not be activated. No Key Management Service (KMS) could be contacted. Please see the Application Event Log for additional information. <Product activation failed>, were shown. Apparently, I did something wrong... I did install Windows 8 Pro (as I said earlier at the beginning of the year) and 2 weeks ago, Windows 8.1 Pro with the corresponding key. Murphy, would you please tell me what I did wrong??? I've been trying for the past 2 weeks to activate the blasted program! I'm at my wits end!!! Thank you and God bless
What you did wrong is try to activate with a gVLK without a working v6 KMS activator. Nobody has a working KMS v6 activator yet. Someone will likely make vm ports of a kms-host activated system soon so we may see some online kms servers like no-ip.org and stuff, but you'll have to be patient. I clearly explained in my release that nobody has working activators and the only way to activate is with legit activation methods.
I'm sorry Murphy. I should have read "between the lines." That means everyone has to same problem I'm experiencing. Go figure... Thank you for informing me. I'll abide by it. Now, where did I lose my head? Take care and God bless
