hello if theres a branded computer for example hp acer etc, that came with windows 7 starter, can one use an oem slp serial to upgrade to home premium or ultimate and no need for activation? the question is because dont want to use any loader or something like that. if it already came installed with windows 7 but starter, can any key that is specific for a brand can be used on any computer want to upgrade the windows on? thanks alot in advance
thanks for the answer. so basiclly i can do this because its a branded computer? can these keys get blacklisted or not? and i dont need to insert slic or whatever that thing is? no need to use loader or touch the bios? i really dont want to do that so i just need to use windows anytime upgrade insert the serial i want and it will upgrade by the key? can i rollback the windows installation if it says it needs activation or i have to system restore by the manufactuer? thanks again
1. Beacuse its an OEM computer with slic 2.1 2. No? Then several thousands of computers would be blacklisted 3. Start anytime upgrade and enter key. 4. Depends on what happens but yes you can always do a systemrestore.
thanks for the answer too i just edited the question but i think you already answerd i dont need to insert slic or whatever that thing is? no need to use loader or touch the bios? i just use one of the keys in windows anytime upgrade and update and it will be activated by its own? if yes it great!
wow thanks alot just one more question when i upgrade with anytime upgrade does it erases anything from the computer or it just updates? all my files and the manufacter applications will stay installed? and also does the upgrade appears on add remove files in control panel as an removable upgrade or update or it will be able to remove it only by doing a recovery from the manufacter? also it wont damage the original recovery files from the manufactor? thanks alot and sorry for all the questions but better safe than sorry
I personally have never used anytime upgrade but i do know that you files will still be intact as for add remove programs I do not think you would be able to uninstall i'm also not sure as tcntad mentioned it that system restore would work. I would backup my system just in case. Haven't heard of any one on forum having problems when they have used anytime upgrade
