Whoaaaaaaaaa I knew the risks of flashing BIOSes, and it all was smooth for 4 times. Now, it turned crap! I have tried offon7544's help-link. It sounds great, only problem is, I have no Floppy in my Acer TM 4002 WLMi notebook. Tried via CD, won't work!!! Is it dependent on Floppy? Does it work with an external drive as well? Just need to know, before I buy one. When I push Fn+B or Win+B nothing happens, when I push Fn+Esc, then it makes some awfull rythmic high-pitched whistles. So, it this my right combination? THX for your help, Maschdel
Read the .txt file in the Phoenix Recovery.rar and try all methods of booting. If the cd doesn't work then make a bootable usb. If bootable usb doesn't work, get a usb floppy drive. Disconnect the hard drive since you don't want it to boot to it. If none of the ways work you'll probably have to send it to Acer to get fixed.
Finally dead! Did anything as proposed! Still dead! Sad but true. Asked Acer, they said, it would cost 250 Euros, this is in my oppinion too much. I think, it may hit the bin. Maschdel
Sony SZ16CP Bios Yes after much nosing around the net (sadly in the chinese sites because this was bought in Hong Kong and not europe), i managed to find sony-asia.pacific delt with this model. The SZ1 range all use the same bios and most are only cosmetic changes and some extra features. Not to worry, it was a risk i took, pity it does not want to do a recovery action, an old VGN sony did that i had. Seems these newer models are missing this feature! Google translated chinese to english is patchy on technical data lol. I have tried the various key combos and wondered if anyone knew any others, FN+B , FN+R Win+B etc i have tried even the FN/WIN+ESC that Acer uses. Nothing... Modern technology eh? Seems to hinder us mortals lol Many thanks for trying, Regards Mx Sorry for late reply, took laptop to bits and the bios chip is soldered and so tiny, will contact sony to see if they can throw light on this recovery system if any it has.
Alive again Hi ZORT, Hi OFFON7544, My notebook is alive again. I desoldered the chip and soldered a new one. Then I flashed it with your modded BIOS, and again it went dead. Then I soldered a new one again and flashed it with the previous BIOS- the one I asked to be modded. It all went smooth, and my notebook still works. I think, somethink must have gone wrong while modding.? Sorry for the bad news Anyway, thx for your efforts, but please disable the link to your modded BIOS, so that noone else needs to go through what I went. WR, Maschdel
Hi Maschdel, I'm glad you got it working! I didn't mod the bios though. The one I posted is the one you linked to. However I noticed there are 2 versions on the mfr site-- for Nvidia & ATI, so maybe the one you linked for us is the wrong kind for your mb.
does that tool posted by yen work with the aset tag thing? and is wow5 better than vistaloader in this application?
