My Q6600's all run @ 3.0 GHZ (Asus P5Q series and MSI P45 Neo2FR's) on 1333 FSB at default voltage stable running 4xprime 95 + occt-Linepack for 24 hours (hyper 212 plus dual stock CM fans or Freezer pro 7's) and their default is 2.4 Ghz. (One can do just under 3.6 max. on air bumped voltage other two around 3.3 max. ) My Phenom II X4 955's (default 3.2 Ghz) all run 3.6Ghz default voltage and again the dual fan Hyper 212 plus. (Scythe 120mm 54 cfm) neither can do 3.8 at stock voltage and 3.7 is not stable 24 hours.
Q9400 @ 3.26, on air. Stable, and good even in warmer weather (winter now). Asus P5Q own modded bios 2208 - New Intel Rom - New Marvell Rom - SLIC 2.1 - CPU Microcode and RAM Rom module from the just released P5Q Premium 2406 Bios (which has a new memory table and cpu microcode apparently) - CPU patch code (new CPU's, not sure which ones though. Thought why not)
Seriously now? AMD are terrible, genuinely. Intel beats them by miles on performance. An i5 750 would mop the floor with a Phenom II X6, really.
Yes. They're not terrible, they're competitive in the mainstream market. That's where most of the money is at. You think I want to spend $1000 - $1100 for a hexa-core Intel CPU? No thanks. It's not the blazing fast performance I was aiming for. It's the value for what it delivers. This is the second best-valued hexa-core CPU that exists. Yesterday before buying it, I spent around 3 hours researching the benchmarks and checking out the reviews. Since my system is all AMD + ATI, I'd never spend a fortune to change it now, nor would I want to support Intel or NVIDIA for that matter. I'm very happy with AMD/ATI and I'm happy to support them by buying their products. AMD is only 1/10th (10%) the size of Intel and yet they still give very good competition when all things are considered. They may not be the fastest but it just doesn't matter to me. This is a great multi-tasking CPU at an excellent price. Who can argue with that? Comparing an i5 750 to the 1090T: I've noticed Intel gives it a good run for the money as it always does. The i5 750 was particularly interesting to me when I was making comparisons, but did you know there are actually benchmarks that my Phenom does better in? Yes, it actually outperforms the i5 750 in some cases, not that it really matters. The two extra cores means it has some headroom for a few more tasks running simultaneously. And then there are the DirectX 11 games to consider for the future that are also multi-threaded. I'm looking forward to AMD's future with Bulldozer and Fusion. How do you like my avatar, Hazar?
Thats a very good point. AMD are very good in terms of value. I just hope they make a new socket and architecture and move on one day
Intel Q6600 G0 oc'd to 3400MHz; when working at 50% or so capacity, temps are about 22C. higher than room temp.
C2D E6420 @ 3.20 Ghz (50%) 50c idle , 65c full whack.... on air, stock Intel cooler!!! The cooler is helped by the case having a duct straight to the outside of case for cool air (if I drop to 3.0Ghz temp is 32-34c idle.. in an 18-20c room) Will go more but the temps start to go up exponentially... need to get better cooling then I'll play more ;-) (h)ttp://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1455933
www(dot)imagelodge.net/imgs/xlr8/cpu7z6.jpg Wondering how to overclock it, I know it can go further than this(atleast x13 multipliers) It's @ 1.8 btw.
Hey guys im sorta new to OCing cpu's i was wondering if i could do anything with this... before i buy a new one Athlon 64 X2 4450e 2.3 GHz its in a crappy compac i bought... ive upgraded it , new power supply video, maxed the ram. Hardrive.... i just wanna know how to overclock or if i can. PM or public post welcome. Thanks Digital Lifers... Todd
