Well i was oc'd on my Q6600 @ 3.0ghz from 2.4ghz. However i just bought 4gb of Kingston Hyperx ram (ddr2 800mhz) and now i cant even oc past 2.4ghz. Im thinking this must be to do with dram voltage ?
it depends on your cpu and motherboard.. open your motherboard bios features to see whether OCing is supported or not.
It could be the low latency thing. Is it the type (CL4)?: ->KHX6400D2LLK2/4G 4GB 800MHz DDR2 Non-ECC Low-Latency CL4 (kit of 2 x 2GB) (This type is faster than CL5) If it is, then check the setting for timing and voltage...Should be set manually like this-> Timing 4-4-4-12 and Voltage: 2.1V Otherwise non low latency:: Normal type (CL5): -> KHX6400D2K2/4G 4GB kit DDR2 800MHz Non-ECC CL5 (kit of 2 x 2GB) This type timing and voltage can be set to Automatic:-> Timing: 5-5-5-15 and Voltage:1.85V (All Automatic) ,
Quad Core Q9650 @ 3.5ghz, 389FSB, pretty satisfied with it @ the moment. Runs everything I ever wanted to play and then some.
Q6600 2.4Ghz to 3.4Ghz with P5Q and a cheap XigmateK ~7$ CPU Cooler. Temps 25 idle, ~40 load. Perfection.
Intel Core2Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz overclocked to 3.6Ghz. That's a 50% overclock on a 65nm quadcore on air cooling (Titan Amanda TEC).
I5 760 4.3Ghz (60 minutes Linpack stable) E8500 --> 4.24Ghz (stable) E8400 --> 4.2Ghz (stable) E2200 --> 3.3Ghz (not 100% stable) Q6600 --> 3.7Ghz (stable)
Amd Athlon64 X2 6000+ 3.0Ghz (windsor) on ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe with 2x Leadtek 9800GTX+ i have this combination now over two years an still no need to overclock it!
My system is now an asus P5VDC-MX Delux with P4 HT T64 @ 3.2Ghz" I was on Gigabyte mobo" Not over clocked!!! On navidia 6600 GPU - HT enabled. Air cooled cpu temp 65C MBtemp 38C on full load cpu. With old DDR ram not DDR2 and runs sweet. Been told that this cpu can be over clocked to 5 GHZ + using liquid cooling "not Water cooling with block" Not that I would try over clocking as this reduces the CPU life span by a third.
Intel Core i7-920 Processor 8M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 4.80 GT/s Intel QPI, It is the processor in my desktop... while I'm using Core 2 Duo P8700 / 2.53 GHz, Centrino 2 processor in my Laptop...
