Problem getting Packard Bell bios

    Try UltraISO or similar tool to extract boot section of the CD. You will get something like FDD image. Looking the content of this image can be helpfull.

    Ok, another odd issue. The bios I was able to extract from the PB site comes up as an AWARD bios, but CPU-Z report the bios as a PHOENIX bios. What gives?

    Award is a trademark of Phoenix. You can use SLIC Dump Toolkit to exactly identify which your system BIOS is, Award or Phoenix.
    However, I think that desktop have Award BIOS.
