Hello, I tried to upgrade my installed PDFSam to the latest version (6.0.5) but it failed and uninstalled the previous version. Now every other version refuse to install, even those I had before. I tried both the 32 and 64 bits versions. Unfortunately the installation log is too long to post here. Anything I could try? I'm on Windows 7 64 bits.
Usually, you cannot reinstall the program until the uninstallation data from the previous version has been removed from the registry or from some other place, if it stores them on different way. That data is likely still there, which is probably why you are unable to install the new version. P.S. Unfortunately, I don't have the program myself, so I can't tell you exactly where it stores its uninstallation settings. They could be in the registry, but just as easily somewhere else. If it is installed with the .msi installer, there is an option to repair the existing version and then uninstall it again as usually should uninstall. After that You should be possible install any other version.
It was uninstalled from the upgrade attempt, so the .msi cannot uninstall or repair. The program's folder also doesn't exist anymore. I have also cleared all the entries in the registry, but it still won't install.
Well, in that case, you need to find out the reason why it can't be reinstalled. It should be something very specific for this OP system or/and this PC.
I know it is. February was the last time I did an upgrade, but now it simply refuses to install any version. If only I could attach the install log, but it's way too large.
Not yet, but it's worth trying. Surely the Windows 7 last ESU update is not interfering because last time I upgraded PDFSam was in February. I was just wondering if the installer uses a CPU detection mechanism similar to Windows Update for Kaby Lake, because I did a CPU upgrade afterwards. At least I'm able to use the portable version of PDFSam for now, but I'm concerned other software won't be able to install as well. EDIT: Safe mode can't handle .msi installers.
