There is a maximum of 8 Gigs DDR2 1066/800/667 memory limit on the ASUS m2n68-am board so that's not the problem.

AMD AM2+ CPUs cannot handle 1066MHZ memory or higher in dual channel mode, in order to get this speed you will either have to take out the second dimm or accept that both dimms will run at 800MHZ. This could be your problem.

This board seems to support Phenom II processors but this means that models like the AMD Phenom II X4 965 (Thermal Design Power 125w or higher) are not supported, only 95w.
    What processor do you have?

Have you checked each stick of ram individually to see if if there is any problem with one of them?
Or tried different slots to see if one is bad?

    What's your PSU at, 350W, 400W, 450W, 500W or higher?
    Not enough juice perhaps?

The Gigabyte 8500 GT should work with this board.

Sounds to me it could be a bad board, but I'm only guessing.

Well getting the GPU to work is a start I guess.
The memory problem still baffels me, I have to meditate on that one.

    WHAT....*chokes coffee in throat*
Are you serious, not a singe ram stick will work on any slot now?

That's true horror right there, either the ram sticks have gone bad or the MB, or both.
Do you still have warranty on these things? That's the best you can do right now, better not to make it worse fidle with them further.

If you have warranty then just RMA it and get it replaced.
You can't fix broken hardware which seems to be the case now.

Those M2N boards were a disaster, I had M2NPV-VM a while back and it has same memory issues.
