Then before last resort scan it offline for malicious activity that is stopping privileged access... Disable UAC....
This all sounds like misinformation to me. So it is the kms host that in some cases will not reactivate an expired client? I have taken laptops out of storage, and never had any trouble reactivating via kms after the 180 days expired. Suppose a professor turns off his kms activated desktop computer before going on sabbatical leave, would he need to reinstall after he returns, or should it reactivate after he just turns it on and reconnects to the campus network?
The question is: is the activation cycles set to default or to custom! In default you're right, is just OOB! That isn't in case of my customers KMS Server's! One is set to an 45 day cycle and the other to 175 day. Both of that customers having limited licensing instead of unlimited because of costing. Also in both cases all software licensing is handled by the Account Department of the Company. If you know Thailand, you know why: Software Pirating. Neither IT Dep nor the Outsources Contractor (my company) has any power in that and we both need to report directly to the Acc-Manager. I don't have a problem with that and everything is regulated in our Contract and appended MoU's! The KMS Server's itself were setup by Microsoft Thailand. Who need to reactivate manually, need to meet the Acc-Manager. And that works quite well. Just a few month ago, a huge Insurance Company's System went down because of Software pirating. The BSA has found that there OS and Apps Licenses were use in several different companies and one of my close friends was lose his job as IT-Manager of that Insurance Company. TIT (This is Thailand)
As I wrote, that were the first three machines with Enterprise last year which were expire a few week ago and the staff from MS-Thailand told that we need to re-install Enterprise as we were not able to re-activate again. Done that! The MS staff told that in case the 180 days are exceeded we need to re-install. I could not check what script they've installed on the KMS server because we didn't have access to that servers. So, we'd to take what they told us. I real it really doesn't matter it's just 20/min to restore from image.
You got that wrong way if 180 + 30 days passed then system activation status will be notification mode. So during notification mode some restrictions will be in effect but no activation restrictions.... During this period you can activate it any time, no reinstall required....
I'm not sure what I got wrong. If activation expires after 180 days, then you get 30 extra days of grace, then notification mode, and even after all that you could still reactivate.
I think you got the OP's problem wrong way & trying to figure out that reinstall required or not after 180+30 days....
I wasn't really addressing the OP's problem. The OP's problem, whatever it is, is caused by something else, and not by an expired kms activation. btw: OP - Have you tried an sfc /scannow command as administrator ? ( edit: oops! sorry I just reread the first post, and yes you have. )
I think your problem relates to KMS server should be reset to default search by: slmgr -ckms that should remove the error.... I have added this to default every time I use any KMS Server... it also allows you to get all updates for the OS since M$ Reads your KMS server is default to auto search....
The OP was unable to execute even "slamgr /ipk" in a admin. cmd window; it has nothing to do with kms.
lol ... one of my first recommendations on this matter was a new install as these symptoms were unknown to me and I saw some in the past the entire thing is a waste of time
Yes, if you google the error message, you find people saying they reinstalled because that was the quickest solution. Again, this case seems some sort of fluke - not really related to letting the kms activation expire after 180 days, which doesn't ordinarily require reinstall.
The OP said he could perform all those slmgr cmds for the first activation, so the current error probably was caused by a update, scannow regards WUD's are legit and therefore won't do anything. Naturally he could try to restore to the point when he made the 1st activation but I doubt he could do that with so many WUD's.......so, re-install. OP could also try it. in CMD(adm) call out the super admin and see if it works: net user administrator /active:yes
my activation will expired (180day) in next 15 day .how i recativated. is the same way when i activated first time. or eles which kms server is runing at this time . give me address of current running server
why not use MTK or Heldi's tool for doing the activation and forget about looking for active servers?
