I'd done a upgrade to the same OS version last Week on My Wife's 5 plus year old HP desktop. Instead of manual updates I'd set it to automatically install important updates. (insert facepalm) My daughter has been playing Minecraft all day, and I do mean ALL DAY. And apparently it's been searching for updates the entire same time. The PSU shut down and I had to let it cool before I could start the PC back up
I tried SUR tool on my "stalled" system, didn't make a difference the method that's been working for me on fresh install since two months: - run WU and check for updates, it would update itself and close/reopen - through task manager, monitor the svchost process that is assocciated with wuauserv - when it stuck on high cpu with no disk/network activity, stop wuauserv service - install latest WU client and reboot - run WU but i had to say, i never used WU to install updates, just for checking
This is my result on my Toshiba NB300 Fresh Windows 7 + Simplix pack installed = Windows Updates search and show the results in less than 1 minute! I can't believe it
Install KB3135445 and make absolutely sure Windows Update and BITS services are set to start delayed, reboot, check for updates and it should take no more than 10 minutes, thats what fixed the issue for me in all scenarios where the issue was present.
....Whats happening in WU(Win Seven only)? I tryed a actualization by wu in audit mode a seven pro here and i have a delay like a hell here!! more six hours late the wu send me actualization!.... ....so i did use wumt and result is same...
...The problem is wu stay in a loop endless....strange,but i could search actualization before in audit mode in seven....so now i cant...
AFAIK, wu is blocked in audit mode only in win8 and later maybe he's just facing the long delay issue
Sorry abbodi1406 but WU works in audit mode for 7 SP1 and 10 (only not in 8, but murphy78's workaround to just create the user account, use windows update, then "sysprep /audit /reboot" and delete the user account, generalize and capture it, for capturing I use your config.ini).
I did reply this a few months ago, where you mentioned it wouldn't work and used something from s1ave77 (something what uses powershell). Please let me know your findings
I've edited my reply. Me too, about the user account, but i trusted murphy78's advise on that one I only changed abbodi1406's exclusion script at one point I don't delete the admin account. When i do that and i want to go in audit mode again i won't give you a configurable admin account but something like xp had called a "steady state" account, which will reverse every change after log off.
I can't install the new updates of this month. I've got 24 updates "downloading" 0KB in total 0% complete. I have the same thing since yesterday. All months are the same thing.
