I have a Microtek Scanmaker 4800, and just downloaded and installed the driver from Microtek's website. I run Windows XP. I have installed the driver via: Control Panel>System>Hardware Tab>Device Manager>Action Menu>Scan For Hardware Changes This worked to install the driver under "other devices" The scanner icon in my toolbar still says, "Scanner is not ready". And when I try to install the driver via disc, via Control Panel and Scanners and Cameras, it cannot find valid driver information from the Scanmaker driver folder. Any ideas as to what I can try to get this computer to recognize the software I have downloaded? I appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks again!
Make sure it's hooked up properly and it lights up. Turn OFF Scanner. Uninstall all drivers/software. Reboot Install drivers/software from the install package not from control panel. Reboot Turn on scanner. Windows will now hunt for and install the drivers, your good to go. Those drivers even work in win 7 64 bit, I have the same scanner.
I used my Microtek 4800 scanner in WinXP/64bit, but I can't get it to work in 7/64bit I've used the M$ hotfixes, both, 9xx468, 9xx390 or whatever, so I've been successfully using XP/64bit for many yrs, but how did you get it to work with 7/64bit, specifically? Using those hotfixes, or how, specifically? Jeff j r s t r o n g a t a o l d o t c o m
