The today's June Windows update solved the Google notifications error in Windows Edge. It now works in build 10130.
Windows is close to RTM release yet Microsoft Edge is still not functioning properly and not to compare its performance with other browsers out there. Does that mean Microsoft Edge is going to be made a universal browser like Firefox, Google Chrome, etc?
It would be more appreciated if that is the case. That is going to give the developers the time to work on it and separate it from Windows 10 as an inbuilt feature. There is a good sense in that.
Is there any earthly reason why there won't be a standalone Edge/Spartan (even if it needs to be stripped down) download for older versions of Windows? Does Microsoft want to replicate the lock-in of IE6?
You can now import bookmarks from another browsers but you can not import from HTML. Microsoft Edge developers have taken one step forward in that direction and I hope they would added the feature to import from HTML file in the future. There are still pages that won't allow you to log in through the browser, most especially, pages which are Google Chrome oriented.
Go to the site you have the problem at, click the three dot menu and Send Feedback, that's the only way to get these bugs fixed as Microsoft can't possibly see all of them through testing.
where is the home page button??? I can't find one and use it extensively. I also find Edge very very unfriendly on a desktop without touch...us people in enterprise still use a mouse at work. For touch purposes, not bad other than a home page button. We will likely not use Edge at work and stick with IE as it is more user friendly with a mouse style. Nice try though.
Can someone please tell me where do i find the project spartan executable file? as I want to integrate IDM with it. Thanks
The earthly reason is that it is a so-called Universal Windows app and it depends on the Windows Runtime to run, which is not available on older versions of Windows than 8. Even on Windows 8/8.1 it won't work because its version of the Windows Runtime is older and it won't be updated. Apart from that, they want everybody using Windows 7/8/8.1 to upgrade to Windows 10, why should there be a version for older Windows versions?
Code: C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdge.exe C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe The MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe file is significantly smaller. But when adding filtering functionality through Adguard, I had to add that executable as well. The MicrosoftEdge.exe alone did not work for filtering with Adguard. So you may need to add both for IDM. These executable locations are from build 10147. If you are on an earlier build with Spartan branding, the directories and executable names are very similar, so you will have to look within the same C:\Windows\SystemApps\ directory.
Has there been any information published about whether the shipping version of Edge will have support for Tracking Protection Lists?
