well i have turn on and off many machines over the years and they never fail....now when it comes to servers my experience with them is to better leave them on all the time unless it requires a HW service or replacement the HD can always be hot swap....now one thing i have seen many times is sometimes you power off a server and one of the raid HD fails or you hot swap it and them put the same HD you pull out and it fails......now as for having a 1500W PSU i think is a over kill to me even for a gaming computer between 750W is more than enough but some people believe more power is better....keep in mind your electric bill.....now as for things expanding and contracting it reminds me of my pennies in my young days always expanding and never contracting :D

These are parts tested to last for certain myriad of cycles. The argument that such strain is going to impact the system within a short period of time is contestable. Which means they are designed to last a life time excepting when they encounter accident. However, there is even argument that turning off your system helps it with long lifespan, etc. It is recommended at times.

The only problem in your sentence is that you are the only one in this thread who wrote about a "short period of time"...

Please learn to reply to what people writes not to what you think people wrote.

More cycles means shortER life, which doesn't translates automatically in "short".

Pretty simple shorter life is a fact, no need to debate. "Short" life depends on project parameters. If they are correctly taken in account, short=enough, otherwise...
