Say hypothetically you offline update an image and then install it. Windows Updates will mostly always download updates(not talking about driver updates) and some cumulative updates will probably be among them. You'll notice after they install they don't require a restart. I don't entirely know why that happens, I just go with the "ignorance is bliss" moto and not bother with them at all. After all, a windows 10 install will be subject to multiple windows updates during its lifetime, so worrying about why certain updates install even after a full offline servicing with latest updates is pointless. Maybe just perform a quick cleanmgr run for some peace of mind and move on.
Sometimes, even the latest one is installed, Windows Update might push older one too. So, just let it be or stop it by wushowhide.diagcab.
I want to install updates offline from locally downloaded files. However this is tricky because Microsoft keeps doing weird s**t. But if I can leave it be that would be preferred. I don't want what I don't need.
Does Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.7.2 and 4.8 actually install these into your system? I checked the reg address HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup and noticed that 3.5 and 4.8 are missing from the registry. So what gives?
What's the difference between updating dot net and installing it? Does it matter what order they are done?
Should've responded to this much sooner. Anyway the reason I'm so obsessed with understanding how updates are done is once the iso is created I disable the updates. I run Windows update in a virtual machine, so I can screenshot the KB numbers; look em up and than download them from the Microsoft update catalog.
AS the screenshot shows, nothing is installed. I ran LTSC in a virtual machine and let it update, and that's what I got. No KB5013887 for me. Something to do with LTSC, maybe.
Sounds like you're using a homebrew based on pro that was modded to act like LTSC. You sure what you're using is based on LTSC?
It is pro reconstructed to ltsc using "edition specific enterprise S packages" https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...struction-project.80939/page-296#post-1713065 edition specific packages are what make any edition anyways even on an official ltsc 2021 i get the same outcome with net framework
it shouldn't matter I just download the latest cumulative update (LCU) and add https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...lemetry-repository.63874/page-75#post-1724815
On 1809 (17763.xxxxx) the native .net = 4.72 4.8 first needs to be installed (NDP48 = kb4486153) to be able to update it (= CU kb5013888). Why not just check here or montly search for "2022-0* 1809" on catalog where the * is the month. Or use WHD. For online updating a running OS only SSU/LCU and NDP35-472 CU or NDP35-48 CU are important.
