    Hello everyone,

for a clean install of Windows 8.1 x64 i like to use an updated install.wim.
How can i detect which patch/update is superseded and which not? maybe without a 3rd tool.

Can i get information from Microsoft Download Center, Microsoft Update Catalog or they are informations in the msu/cab files?

How it works? Is it applicable for Windows 7?

    Source for my work:

The boot.wim and winre.wim are also updated with the KB2894179. There are some other WinPE updates?

What is the best way to unpack all these updates? any command for it? All Updates are in one folder.

    Thanks for your help! :)

    1. Get Virualbox.
    2. Install 8.1 in VB.
    3. Install all updates.
    4. Look at your update history. Those are the ones you need.

If one has updates on local disk, why install and waste bandwidth. Just check and see which updates are shown.
