Question about upgrading to WMC

    Right now, if I enter my Windows 8 Pro Key in the WindowsSetupBox to download the ISO from Microsoft, it says wrong product key, it only works with the Windows 8 setupbox but not the 8.1 Setupbox

    My question is, if I upgrade my current key to the WMC version, I would be issued a new product key right?

    Would that new product key allow me to use the Windows 8.1 Setupbox or would it be the same story?

    Also, do you think it would be wiser to do this upgrade let's say in April, in order to get the updated Windows 8.1 ISO from Microsoft if that would ever come to life?

    as far as I know, Setupbox does not support WMC keys. also some member mentioned that it is unlikely that M$ will release Retail Update 1 iso (which you need for WMC, not VL iso) there was a trick to get Setupbox to accept your key, but I'm not supposed to discuss it here.

    Well currently I have a Windows 8 upgrade from Windows 7 key and it activates fine on a clean install of either Windows 8 or Windows 8.1

    I downloaded the RTM WZOR leaked ISO of Windows 8.1 and it activated just fine. You mean to say that if I upgrade my key to Pro I will no longer be able to use and activate the keys here? where would I get the ISO from then? directly from MS after buying it?

    what do you mean upgrade to Pro? you said you already has Pro Upgrade key If you mean using the new WMC key you recieved when buying this feature pack (or got it for free during the free offer) you will be able to upgrade and activate just fine over existing Windows 8.1 Pro installation. and you said you already has the WZOR leak. why asking about where to get the ISO? WZOR leaks has same hashes as MSDN iso from M$. If you are talking about getting updated ISO using Setupbox (as you mentioned), then you have to input your Windows 8.1 Pro key (not the WMC key). PS: you're asking very weird question for someone with 1000+ posts :) try using the search function here. Edit: murphy explained it perfectly. thanks for some new informations as well :)
