Retrozilla is an old Firefox build haha. Unfortunately, Opera fails with many sites as it supports only TLS 1.0.

Let's just agree to disagree and rest the case.

The latest true Opera, 12.18, supports TLS 1.2, like RetroZilla. That specific system can only run Opera 8.54 (and MSIE4, yuck). Opera 8.54 supports TLS 1.1, obviously.

Where applicable and running, MyPal is used by myself, as nothing beats a maintained browser. Will look into the squid thingy, maybe it's available for my Synology NAS...

I know that and used/use it on my Win98 machines. However, this specific system lacks an FPU, the limit here is Win95 and Opera 8.54, I tested extensively. With Win95+FPU, it would be Opera 10.63.

I know, bummer when you're getting error 40 or error 70 due to unsupported ciphersuites.

As XP devivative of Basilisk, Centaury should also be named. Support for it is a bit lacking, currently.

So Serpent has a cousin? Good to know.

Speaking of XP Advanced Chrome54 is worth to have a mention as well, now is a bit outdated and given it uses the system certificates (unlike FF based browsers) need a fully updated XP with bits from PosReady2009 and other hacks to be usable.

I totally agree on that. But advanced chrome is a chromium build that has most of the google crap non present or removed.

Nothing like the work done by the Vivaldi team who spent an year cleaning up the sources, but still something way better than a stock Chrome or even Chromium build.

If I had to be hard and pure as I wished I had to use just Opera 12 and Konqueror

Unfortunately I can't. and have to limit myself to use (and contribute to ) Vivaldi, while using the uGs in place of google apps on cellphones.

FF and derivatives are necessary evils on some situations, but was basically ugly and slow when compared to Opera, it's still ugly and slow today
