Does configuring a non-existent WSUS server in the registry stop W10 from updating directly with MS ?
Last night at 10:10 PM a large dark van pulled up in front on my home. Two heavily armed dudes exited the van, proceeded to my front door, rang the bell, and when I opened the door I could see the "MS" insignia on their coats. They asked if I had installed: en_windows_10_technical_preview_for_enterprise_x64_dvd_555409. I said I did They asked if I had installed: en_office_professional_plus_2013_with_sp1_x64_dvd_392813 I said I did They asked if I visited porn sites a lot I said I did They asked what were my intentions for doing these things I said to browse the net, send emails, looks at large breasts, and read about a bunch of paranoid people on MDL who were a bigger threat to themselves than anything or anybody else could be. They smiled, and gave me a package of popcorn to eat while browsing the net. As the van pulled away I heard one of them yell out the window "HI HO SILVER, AWAY"
LOL, funny way to say that unless you are into dubious activities such as conspiracy, illegal porn, terrorism, racism, etc. any other concern about M$/NSA espionage is merely paranoia.
I plan to install Windows 10 TP Ent on an spare HDD for my Laptop and will use that one with Sniffer Apps to "see" what MS will try to do. It's just for fun to see MS will install something else on that system after initial installation. I'll use an Caddy with an 320GB WD Scorpio Black HDD instead of the DVD drive, just use the BIOS Boot Manager for to choose from what system to start. Lat see how much data will transferred out and in within 24h Will let you know what happen after!
What a thread that serves no purpose whatsoever? How in the world could that happen? It's not like that happens every day at MDL. I mean come on we aren't that bored each day.
You probably don't need WinRAR and 7-Zip... get rid of the former Might also suggest getting a newer version as well; 9.34 is the latest, and from what I can see, is stable (and fixes issues found in previous versions). Would also suggest ditching uTorrent and go for something else like qBittorrent, but that's just personal preference.
But, I am not referring to starting of the thread but the trivial argument. Starting a thread can't be ado. I think you are wrong.
For some people security of data are the first concern! Is that bad? I don't think so! I'm concerned of the security of my own data as well as those from my customers. At our customers we charge for not following our security recommendation extra fee's, that's part of our Service Contract's. All that applies for released OS's and Apps, NOT for any BETA or Preview software. I wouldn't use any BETA or Preview Software in Production Environment because of it's nature for not to be an finalized software and be tested to be as secure as possible. That there's not any software 100% secure is although an fact we all have to accept and to live with. Just the stage of an BETA or Pre is much, much less secure and should never be used in an production environment. But there a lot of user's who never seems to be thinking about that and using BETA's and Pre's as their Main System for ALL work they do. That's done for several reasons it's free it's new want to have the newest software for what reason ever don't want to pay for a finished product and more.......... Still, even some use those BETA's and Pre's as Main System, they're still concerned a little, and that's just their personal right! Look at the different forum at MDL, that's happen in many occasions EVERY day and should therefore considered as very normal! That said, I'm not with you Mr. Smorgan, sorry for that!
Lighten up, have some fun, life is too short to be serious about something as trivial as an OS - it works for most of us.
@ Pisthai Lighten up man if you don't know the meaning of sarcasm on the internet then I feel bad for you son lol I have the tech preview in a Virtual Machine for a reason as it is brand new software and buggy. I don't like the direction Microsoft is taking with its Operating Systems in general. I may just stick with Windows 8.1 U1 or even downgrade to Windows 7 SP1 as its a lot more stable. The problem with what I'm seeing in Windows 10 is that it is not an improvement as the theme is just plain ugly. Take my posts for the humor they are supposed to be not for the obviousness of their error in terms of inexperience. (Sarcasm it's a word too) lol
Makes sense, otherwise how is Windows supposed to know what updates and or drivers need to be updated or installed?
