hello all i need a little help. i grabed GATEWAY-MX6961-77.12-DELL_SLIC21_DELL_SLP.rar for my ML6231 gateway. when i unrar the file i have the following. 7712.EXE 7712.BIN 7712.log 7712.lst 7712.txt 7712.WPH BIOSCOD01.ROM BIOSCOD01_SLIC.ROM Information About Your Bios.txt read_me.txt readme.txt the normal bios from gateway uses the 7712.EXE for flashing do i do the same for this bios ? i ask this because after i flash with 7712.EXE and i check my tables it shows still as a GATEWAY making me think that it was not flashed with a moded bios. do i need to flash it a diffrent way ? sorry for my post if this was posted before any help would be great thanks
Looks like it was done with an experimental tool. Not intended for this for sure. Please flash to original and wait for proper mod.
hmmm now that i look at it the MX6961 is not in the same family of boards so maybe that is why that is not working
Its phoenix and these are temperamental. we are working on a tool to help, but it is not ready. Until then manual mods only and they take a lot of time and effort to be right. Some still brick. Phoenix bios are a great risk. You need to know this. They are much, much more risky than Award and AMI.. Yen has some very good tools and methods, and some of us are still trying to be proficient with them. There are only a few (less than 4) people doing phoenix mods. Please be patient.. There is no auto tool yet..
bricking is not a problem as i found this laptop has the recovery bios on it and can just boot off a usb floppy and re flash the unit back so bring on the mods but till then i will keep the unit with the normal stock bios thanks again for your help
You have to believe..it is still possible for dead board..I have seen it. I just want you to know.. Do you have a link to the bios update??
i would not be surprised today i thought my unit was dead. BLACK SCREEN was not fun. till i got the unit booting again with the recovery bios cysis thing
