To integrate updates, append indexes, export, vm tests, etc. Many servicing options we have available consume HDDs, they don't last for too long, damn!

Which RAMDisk/SSD/HDD method/solution for endurance do you recommend?

    Current setup
    Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64
    RAM: 12 GB

What do I mean for servicing?
    Every month:
    1. Windows 7 AIO
    2. Windows 8.1 AIO
    3. Windows 10 AIO
    4. Office 2010/2013/2016 AIO

    Seriously?
These sort of tasks require or demand tons of writes and reads.

An acquaintance gave me WD10PURX 1.0TB (purple ones), do you think it can handle heavy duty?

How much do you expect your drive to write each day?
The Samsung 512 gb Pro SSD is designed to write 80gb per day, up to 300 TBW or 10 yrs (warranty)
300 TBW= 300,000 gb written before you exceed your warranty status
That will probably last as long if not longer than a platter drive.
The question you need to ask is how much space do you need?

I'm asking for those that can last a bit or much longer, 1 TB is fine.

Bro, when I plug in my HDDs ready to servicing images I put cold water w/ice in a plastic pan to cool the thing down lol
Even so my drives doesn't last long enough as I wish they could.

FWIW, I am a poor guy, financially speaking, and have to do some ludicrous remedies to workaround issues.

about a year ive had the 2.5s, with a heavy workload, if i get 3 years, im happy. if i had bought a sammy 250gb ssd and killed the bugger, thats 90quid down the bog and hard to find. if you kill an ssd quick, can you afford to replace it?

mehico is a hotter country than the uk. if possible, place pc near a window thats in the shade, air will be cooler, if you can rig a custom air inlet from an open window to pc, it'll help.

Just get a 256gb 2.5" ssd for your servicing. That will out last any hdd, be quicker, & probably out last your pc...

Ah! This is a good answer especially coming from you Flipp3r, no offence to others who have replied. Turns out Flipp3r is a technician/IT or sort of Jack of All Trades

So he has first hand experience on such task like servicing Windows images and the like. You know servicing images requires lots, TONS of read/writes over a HDD/SSD.

My HDDs I've been using all these years won't out last that much. o_O
