We have an annoying problem with an equipment that has a PC built in. It works fine on its own but we need to monitor it remotely, but the built-in PC is plagued with random freezes that need a hard restart.
For the remote monitoring we are using another desktop PC running Windows 10 pro which we connect using an ethernet cable.
We have assigned static IP addresses to each PC and have connected them directly (we have tried using a switch but the issue persists).
There is no router and no DHCP. The IP address of one is used as the DNS address of the other.
We have tried TightVNC and TeamViewer. Both work fine but the in-built PC freezes about a couple of times a week.

Our assessment is that Windows 10 Iot does not like being connected to a network with no internet access. If there is no connection at all - LAN cable unplugged - it is fine but when the cable is plugged in Windows 10 Iot expects internet access to be available.

This is driving us nuts. Please help.
Btw the freeze is total - nothing responds. It doesn't unfreeze itself - we've observed it for hours. No freezes if the LAN cable is unplugged.

If it helps to narrow down the possible causes, the built in PC has a full GUI (ie. not Iot core) and is running an application created in LabView.
