it could be a compatibility problem with win10. have you just decided to install win10 on your machine after having used another os on this machine for a long time ? i suggest to install win8.1 on this machine and see if the problem will occur again. If you're not noticing that problem so that means that your machine has compatibility problem with win10.
I'm on Win10 for 3 years now if not more, and I started having issue like 1 year ago. If it's a compatibility issue I'll have to buy a new NIC anyway.
I'm new into this thread as haven't been on the forum for sometime so excuse myQ's. I'm running enterprise and Pro version, also insider releases and have seen just about anything the OS can throw at you. It's not likely to be W10, your machine is perfectly good for running W10. You stated your nic is Realtek, is that the onboard 8111G , if not what model please? You stated it seems to happen more when your playing games. so is normal web browsing ok or not?
must be a driver issue with the nic he is using....does it disconnect on the WIFI also or just the lan nic? the issue happens only when hes gaming maybe is a issue with the game server and not HW related.
@techquest has the best answer, indeed if the disconnection happens only when you play games, there are good chances it comes from the server which you connect at, maybe it is related to overwhelming server which causes the random disconnection. So indeed we need to know if this disconnection happens also when browsing or running other tasks on the machine or it happens only when you play games. If it happens only when playing games so your problem is solved.
As @hamdoullah is saying the problem is possibly down to gaming. So we need eliminate the question of do you get the problem with normal browsing. If it turns out to be not the case then we will have a better understanding of where to look next.
sounds possibly bios related with efi or irq or power management acpi. live os ping test see if any packet loss. bios version? event viewer shows anything at the exact time it happens ?
No packet loss. Bios version: the latest available on the asus site for the M51AC mobo, which is like 2013. Event viewer didn't show anything in particular the last time I checked few days ago (before the format), I can check again in the weekend, but I don't think I will see anything.
All the power management, green ethernet s**t etc. are disabled. I also bought a new NIC Intel, so I can see if I will have any issues with it too.
Yea, pretty much only online games. I had the issue on League of legends and dead by daylight. But never on For Honor for example. I don't remember encountering the issue outside of online games, so normal browsing seems to be fine. I don't know if it's the onboard 8111G, but I can check if you tell me how.
usually gaming online requires good bandwidth a minimum of 50 MB maybe thats were the issue mite be sense it only happens when your connected to the game server.
not saying thats the issue....i said that mite be the issue....gaming online now a days requires a lot of bandwidth.
The modem has no issues (I also tried with 2 different modems, power cables etc.) since it doesn't turn off and all the other devices connected do not lose connection while my pc does.
