It's only the VBScript stuff that doesn't work. 1. I got my Repair entry back by running RecAgent /disable followed by RecAgent /enable. 2. Inside RE I did the registry steps manually (Load hive, delete WPA subkey, unload hive). 3. Got my 5 rearms back. For the real tests I should set up a few VMs. But first need to sleep a bit.
Thanks for helping Hopefully, with people testing we'll knock off the problems one by one 1. Question, what is running service or process wise when personalization window is open cause we got to close that after theme is restored if in notification 2. And hide the check.bat console at logon These things are undesirable things as we would rather have them run silent s1ave77 and Humphrey give positive results but I haven't gotten it to completely work? I will do test stuff for both rearm and theme functions Hopefully some good feedback will come soon...
It is handled by Explorer.exe, what it shows is: Code: "c:\Windows\Explorer.exe" /factory,{ceff45ee-c862-41de-aee2-a022c81eda92} -Embedding Not an extra process. And running it manually doesn't do anything. If you run the check as e. g. SYSTEM, it will run invisibly. Running under the credentials of a logged user will show the window to that user.
In that case it didn´t show any messagebox, and won´t reinstall rearm, as tested so far. So i guess it´s impossible to make it fully hidden.
We've got to fix these things cause it's pointless to have my check.bat and but stuff that pops up for user I think the way we have things written might need to be thought about again. It's possible to consider writing things differently so everything works I think I'm going to put the console message instead of the MS msg box Do you still have the check.bat write code to do that? I can't find that? Thanks
I have now setup 6 test VMs, freshly installed, in Trial. -Windows 7 Starter -Windows 7 HomeBasic -Windows 7 HomePremium -Windows 7 Professional -Windows 7 Ultimate -Windows 7 Enterprise Could you do some kind of test document I can follow to get consistent results? Simple steps are sufficient.
IR6 works for all of them with almost 0% problems which is why the rearm concept is so cool as it's not hardware dependent The first post download is untouched as MD and I did it long ago, so if you have problems then try that version The test method for the my two new ideas is in past posts We're not really testing for IR6 install but for the non-manual rearm and theme restore so really it is not necessary to test different OS's as the only difference in testing would be the default key install upon rebooting (That key install is what takes so long upon entering windows after IR6 install) Thanks for testing
Will test the AutoKMS stuff, snapshots are great. @TS: There are a few issues we need to test, especially with the lower SKUs. Will add them to this post upon encounter. 1. Neither Windows 7 Starter nor Windows 7 HomeBasic have support for themes, and there's no Personalize item for them.
AUTO_KMS: Two questions to the Auto_KMS. It worked and activated 7EnterpriseSP1 immediately. 1. The service start type is Manual, and the task trigger is set to System startup. That means a system with Auto_KMS needs to be restarted at least once every 180 days to stay activated? 2. The installation of AutoKMS came at the cost of two Rearms (before:3, after: 1)? I will check with Professional, too, to rule out any oddities of the Enterprise. D420: Still testing, how long does that stubborn Windows need to black out the screen? Otherwise, it worked and booted into RE, then restored full Rearms. Currently doing time travel with that VM. More to come. OK, Rearms expired, grace expired, Notification. The Check task came up and asked to reinstall. I did and the RE procedure restored full Rearms, again. That part definitely works. However, no theme was backed up and no theme restored. Screen stayed black and I had to restore the theme manually. Is that backup stuff already in?
It's possible to hide console window completely (run as SYSTEM) but in this case it will wait for user input infinitly. I don't think it's possible with batch to close that single window, because it's run as a explorer.exe thread... @Carlos: I wrote you a pm
Our tasks worked hidden until lately which I've interpreted is due to what is written in code and how it's processed via cmd?! IR5 and IORRT tasks run stuff hidden so we're solving this problem? There we're many things that we're thought impossible during the rearm concept of 3 years development but myself, MD or others wen't past that limit! I sit in there being an answer even though myself and others might not be conscious to it right now
Hrm, looks like the Theme backup doesn't work because the user name contains a space. File Not Found - Test The user name is Test Subject, it seems to stop at the first space.
Hi s1ave77, did you change somethings cause I posted your DB master copy and my without remarks and without pause copy? On the same page our we? ...lol This is why I re-post static and changed stuff to be clear for all who read including me Let's all sync in
With S77D420 it's the same, sorry. I inserted a set and a pause command directly after the environment variables initializing. Here are the troublesome entries I suppose: Code: theme=Test themefile=C:\Users\Test It looks like they still are truncated at the first space. I think the problem lies with lines 9 and 10 in check.bat.
Looks like I need to correct my previous statement re: Auto_KMS: KMS activation does set your Windows 7 Rearm count to 1, no matter what it was before. Had it go down from 5 to 1, and up from 0 to 1. That one Rearm is to satisfy OOT grace that follows the 180 days. Then Rearms are at 0.
