@TD420 Updated IR6 instructions What do you guys think of content? Code: 1. Select Install then your computer will automatically restart into Recovery Environment (RE) 2. Enter your keyboard language and login information 3. Click command prompt and type "C:IR6" (without quotes) then press enter 4. Ignore any non-genuine messages while windows is restarting 5. Desktop watermark will disappear momentarily * If rearms do not reset try typing D:IR6, E:IR6, F:IR6, G:IR6, H:IR6 or I:IR6 in command prompt at step 3 * If IR6 doesn't boot into (RE) restart your computer and press the F8 function key when BIOS screen flashes * Then choose the option to repair computer and start over at step 2 * IR6 automatically rearms and restores user theme if computer was off when 30 day IR6 task was suppose to run to rearm windows Also we need to make Check.bat console smaller when it runs at logon Any other ideas to hide Check.bat or solve that problem? Thanks
Small addendum to the last point: IR6 will save and restore user theme on Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate and Enterprise. Windows 7 Starter and Home Basic do not support themes and will likely throw an error.
Maybe content that demonstrates theme restore and rearm separately in instructions/edition! In that case we should have workaround for those editions? Take consideration that check.bat rearm concept works independently of theme restore? They don't support theme but still need to be restored to default background if background went black! This is final version so please work with it so I don't have to go back and make IR5 folder invisible and correct other stuff Thanks
Only Windows 7 Home Basic needs a workaround. Starter doesn't even allow changing the background, thus it will restore itself. Home Basic allows changing the background, but has no themes - so we need to save/restore the background itself.
HomeBasic = workaround for background save/restore. Does desktop go black in notifications? Has Starter been tested to see if it will restore background itself and in notifications does desktop go black? Thanks
Yes. Home Basic allows customizing background, screensaver etc. - it just doesn't allow working with Themes (the Theme tool doesn't run). Of these, only the background is affected. In my tests it didn't, but maybe I have not waited long enough. But even if it does, Windows will aggressively reset the background to the default (and the only existing) img0.jpg (it even fails to work with a different image of the same name ). Of course, the Theme tool throws an error on Starter, too, need to suppress that.
