I have tried the script on #13 on a Windows 2019 server EVAL too, online. It gave a lot of errors but, after reboot, windows server do not say anymore that the trial period is ending. I gave slmgr /dli and /dlv and it says there is no more product key or license. I have tried to add a license and I have failed. I need to ask three things: - has the script worked? I mean will windows 2019 continue to work or it will stop at the end of rearm period? - how can I add a regular license? - do the offline script at #17 work better? I mean, for example, can I add a regular license later? Basically a customer of mine has used an eval as a regular windows, tomorrow the rearm period ends and there is not yet a new license but people must continue to work for some days until we can finally put a license. Interesting, so I do not need to use the script to delete the license, but I can boot with a regular server ISO and update windows 2019 eval to standard?
No unfortunately converting the non eval SKU does not work, probably because the server is a domain controller.
just do slmgr /ipk <good serial> Then activate it with your preferred method, DC controller has nothing to do with all of this.
You can't install a retail/OEM/volume key that way on an evaluation variant of Server SKUs. === @mgiammarco What was the exact error message?
ยจ I'm not going to argue this time, given it was an era since I did that and my memory may fail, but I clearly remember that I was surprised to discover that one single command worked over the more complicate official solution. As you know I already explained here how to convert (almost) anything to (almost) anything, so unlike my habit I'm not going to waste 5GB of my traffic just to recheck that minor detail and to solve a problem I already solved, in a more general way.
@acer-5100 It's not about having an "argument," rather sharing knowledge. When you're in a public forum, perhaps it's better to stay put than providing completely wrong info.
I think that the quality of the knowledge I shared there talks for itself, although looks like that, lately you guys prefer the quantity. So, assuming my info was wrong (which I'm really not 100% convinced it was), I placed a single wrong info over 1864 messages. Not that bad, I would say.
Why would anybody need to use any trial these days? Just install any available free download edition (maybe with a tiny SmartVersion patch) and use local KMS?
to confirm Server Eval Edition need dism Set Edition to switch to regular Edition, (just tested on 2019 version v1809 ) package Microsoft-Windows-ServerStandardEvalEdition is removed to accept key.
