@michelle @alex: thanks for the replies! actually i read somewhere that the DisableDeleteNotify command doesn't check whether TRIM is actually working or not, but only whether it;s enabled. Mine's set to 0 so i really hope it's working ok. Weird thing is I had to turn off scheduled defrag manually after i first installed OS. Also, i see this in my device manager : Intel(R) 5 Series 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller does that mean that ahci is enabled for me, both in OS and BIOS? I did not do any manual enabling of AHCI. Will my SSD work optimally without degradation? By the way...what's the rationale behind disabling Write Caching?
Raid is not an option on some machines. Make sure your chipset supports it. In newer laptops the Intel PM55 chipset supports raid while the HM55 chipset(Asus Gaming G53 and G73) does not. In either case install the newest Intel RST software on hardware with Intel chipsets. Update your SSD's firmware to the newest versions.
I have the Intel 160 gig ssd and it really screams...I am very happy with it, I will say this I also baught a 260 gig Revo Drive in raid zero and that thing really screamed but it does not play nice with my msi board...I am gonna have to do a litte research to find out what board it is compatible with and start my second build, the Revo is the fastest drive I have ever used.
