Hi all, I'm planning to buy a refurbished Dell latitude either E7440 or E7450 for daily work such as word processing, web surfing, programming, email checking and watch online movies. Seeking opinion which one shall i choose? Thanks.
common sense tells me the newer model E7450...but I5 is bit old already i would look for one with a I7 u going to get better performance and of course invest in one with a SSD if u can.
Thanks for your opinion. Im thinking the same go with E7450 but in my country all offering core i5 instead of core i7.
Not a real fan of ultrabooks , they're so compact it's hard to mod them. My alternative is an E5430, just a bit older than the 7440 with a 1600x900 display and a backlit keyboard well scratched up, no hard drive or battery for less than 100 bucks It had an i3 cpu which I replaced with an i7-3610qm, (cpu benchmark 7462), not many are faster put a Firecuda 1T hybrid hard drive, (big solid state cache) and 4gb memory. It's big and heavy but it boots in 25 seconds (bootracer) and does all I need to do very quickly. Finally how does one identify what to buy? go to ebay and search for makes that you like you will get pages of lists choose the model with the highest number for sale they will probably have used in industry and tend to flood the market when released to surplus. choose a couple of models get the service manuals and determine how easily they can be upgraded, fixed etc with this knowledge you can begin to narrow the search. I tend to look for distressed sales, something broken or missing ...T
Hi Tonto11 thanks for your valuable input and advice. You gave me some good idea what other alternative to look for.
The e7440's are good laptops, we use several of them at my company. I'm using one right now. If you aren't doing anything too intensive, then they are a good choice. If you buy one, maybe use the money you saved over a e7450 to upgrade the screen to fhd, upgrade the ram and install an ssd.
I would choose the E7450, there is already a ssd included. neverless in a refurbished Laptop you never know about the wear out of the ssd.
The Dell Latitudes are some of the best laptops I've ever owned, and I own quite a few high end business-oriented laptops. They're very customizable and quite flash/upgrade friendly.
