I got the same problem on 1 machine it is working and the other fails. I created a x86 patched file and that one seems to work fine. I give up :( (for 2day) In which program do you guys debug the dll file on x64 I cant seem to execute the debugging server of IDA64

I found the way to remove the explorer water mark and build version 9200 was to replace shell32.dll.msu and branding folder in system 32 ,

your able to use the patch folders using your friend Google and replace them and it works but dont know how to remove the activation water mark that appears every 2-3hours ??

The water mark remover that was used for Win8 CP and RP works on RTM... The activate now is not that annoying to me... so I have not bothered trying to remove..

I've read this thread from page 1 -20 and i'm impressed with the progress, especially Woot32 and UnknownRE; these guys are doing this in their free for the benefit of everyone who has downloaded the Windows 8 RTM x86 or x64. Personally I don't mind killing explorer.exe and restarting it; it takes less than a minute to do, the locked PC settings don't really bother me at least they haven't locked the desktop background or color scheme. It's not long before a KMS server becomes active or someone comes up with an OEM activator. On the other hand it could be one of us who comes up with it.

Actually I think it has more to do with the fact that people like to educate themselves on how the licensing and protection systems work in Windows. Ripping Software apart is fun, why use something without knowing how it works?

Its only a watermark patch the license state is still the same after patch. No Software Licensing API(s) are
patched so no software protection is removed or modified lol.

I got the same offsets on a other patched dll test on X64 but the watermark reappears on 1 of my VM's
maybe its just me (tried to patch the systemsettings screen 2 though)
Maybe if i remove my patched systemsettings dll it will keep working. (still strange that my file was repaired though)
hhmmm the systemsettings screen should not be so hard
(everything i try corrupts other applications like the mail and people app)
ok next step a gooed working systemsettings screen :)

(i posted my link without the activation dll) crocko.com/5C4BA9B351404B788F4D8BD163AFDD93/Activation_Watermark_UnknownRE-X86-X64.zip
maybe we can create a patcher for both x64 and x86
there was somebody that already had the source for an installer ??? PM me

The file was uploaded at 5:something your post was at 6: something that must mean you have not rebooted .
you need to place the file, reboot, and wait 3 hours..

So since I started this thread let me summarize all this:

    Activation Overlay
x86 patched twinui.dll works and removes activation overlay
loads of x64 twinui.dll uploads but none really works

As for the build and Windows Edition on desktop
some report My WCP Watermark Editor works, many said they had problems with Metro Apps afterwards
others said this doesn't happen with clean water (which uses My WCP Watermark Editor)

    Is this right so far?

MY QUOTE: "I got the same offsets on a other patched dll test on X64 but the watermark reappears on 1 of my VM's
maybe its just me (tried to patch the systemsettings screen 2 though)" It is still my patch im using its not the patch you referring 2 (already had this weird 2 machines state but seems to work fine know after dll unpatch)

    (OP)
    so cleanwater didn't work
but when i used the copy of "my wcp watermark editor" bundled with it
    it worked

has anyone tried blocking write and modify access for the system on the mui files "my wcp..." changes?

    EDIT: I just tried.
How long usually until this build info returns?
