Ok guys, new version. Now the application can be registered as a service. When running as a service, it will register itself in WMI so it can be notified whenever a explorer process is created. It will also be notified when a user has is logging on system and a optional timer which will be executed at the specified interval on config file. To install as a service, type on a admin command prompt: ThreadKiller install service And to remove it: ThreadKiller remove service If you don't execute with admin privileges it will most likely fail during installation or removal. The application will create a config.txt file, where you can set some optional values. CheckInterval - A interval in seconds which the service will check for activation thread. Setting the value as less than 30 seconds will deativate this check. Default value is 9000 (2h and 30 min) LogService= - Enable or disable the log.txt file PoolInterval=15 - A interval in seconds from which WMI will notify the service about explorer process creation. hi, i've tried this version, but it worked only for two days and today appeard activation watermark again - tested on W8 RTM X64 Pro [Volume]
I've found that running all 3 patches works the best. Also it helps to turn off fast startup in power options because it resets the uptime clock.
sorry UnknownRE Looks like that i have en-gb_windows_8_enterprise_n_x86_dvd_918708 version and in this version shell32.dll.mui is located in C:\Windows\System32\en-GB basebrd.dll.mui is located in C:\Windows\Branding\Basebrd\en-GB,so it's not your mistake. This version is slightly different
i downloaded the file, renamed it to w8.exe, placed to C:, open CMD (administrator mode) -> C:\w8.exe -install and it did nothing where's the problem
(its because you dont have (or the .NET4 framework) (or the installutil.exe executable of windows that comes with the Windows SDK) I will create an installer later on so its easier to install
Running the patcher again fixes watermark from this update, although I assume its because it puts the old file back and isn't very recommended.
