My thoughts exactly. Next time, try posting watermark removal issues in the correct threads- do not need you here complaining about something that is not even related to this thread, giving people the wrong impression about removing ads that it will cause your problem.
I did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 (hate upgrading, so messy), and applied this patch. I didn't notice any errors, applied both .bat patches and restarted my PC. When I logged back in, around 11 apps had an X on their icon and were not updating tiles (travel, food, health, news, music, games and a bunch others), when I tried opening them I was greeted with a message "This apps needs to be repaired, please open the Windows store", when I did, Windows store asked me if I wanted to repair all my "broken" apps. I guess Microsoft implemented additional checks with Windows 8.1.
I still have been unable to gain permissions over the Apps folder on 8.1. I'm hoping that this is just a beta thing and that it won't be an issue with the RTM. If it is, I'll have to wait until someone figures out how to write to that folder. For right now, stay away from using this if you're on 8.1 as it will cause all of your "default" apps to need repairing.
The only side effect of using this removal script is that box that I can't get rid of. I've tried, believe me. I've found the code for it, but if you try to disable it the whole app stops working. I at least got rid of the ad and made it so that clicking on it doesn't take you to a site.
This is exactly why I made this. What really pisses me off is when you pay for an app and it still has ads in it. You've already gotten my money, now you're just being greedy. I believe all ads should be opt-out. This is my opt-out solution.
When you click on that blank banner, does it try to take you to a site? That was my main issue with just hiding the ads, is that the banner is still there and able to be accidentally clicked on because it's invisible.
Thanks very much. Works great for most app. Can you please add compatibility for Accuweather, gmail calendar and SkyNews.
Hey sorry for the late reply. This is most likely because you're using a different language of Windows. I would assume that typing in "C:\Program Files\Windows Apps" doesn't lead you anywhere. Ah, nevermind. I see the issue. You're using the E:\ drive as your main drive instead of the C:\ drive. Download the new v0.8 script. I've fixed this.
