at least we know it is changing the ownership for all the files without any failing. Now just have to figure out why it isn't doing what ever it is adremove does. Now, are you on a admin account or a normal user account?

Ok that ad that you're seeing is a Microsoft ad, looking like it's in the Weather app? I still haven't worked out a foolproof way to block the Microsoft ads, but if anything you shouldn't see the ad, only a border where the ad should be. So obviously something isn't right. Did you have the Weather app open when you ran AdRemover.bat? Try manually closing the app (mouse to upper left corner, right click over Weather app, close) and then reopen it and tell me if the ad is still showing.

If the ad is still showing after closing the app and reopening it, try navigating to %programfiles%/WindowsApps and find your Microsoft.BingWeather_2.0.0.288 folder. Then find the MSAdvertising/ads folder within that and tell me if there's a file called bootstrap.html. There should be one called bootstrap.js, but if the .html file is missing from that directory, it means that my script ran fine. It also means that I need to find a new way to get rid of Microsoft ads.o_O

Interesting. That means that my script isn't doing anything when run. Try doing what Humphrey advised and open AdRemover.bat in notepad and change the @ECHO OFF line at the beginning to @ECHO ON and run it again. Post what you see.

I just discovered the problem, it was on my D drive, so I copied the addremover bat to my C drive, and it worked like it should.

Sorry about causing all of the worries about it not working.

And Thank You 1337chaos for all of your work on this.
Also Thank You Humphrey for your help on this.

Well it works like it should when it's run from the OS Drive.
TakeControlOf ran fine from my D drive, just don't understand why AdRemover wouldn't work till I moved it over to the OS drive.

Maybe there should be a warning in the read me text file.

Hmm... That is odd. I'm pretty sure that I've got that issue fixed in the v1.0 alpha right now though. Feel like testing it for me?

Yes it worked this time from my D drive, I install some new apps, and made sure they had adds in them, and it worked great.

Great to hear! I plan on releasing 1.0 some time this week. Right now I'm downloading random apps from the store and testing whether the script removes ads from them. Don't forget to comment if you find one that doesn't get removed

I've been working on it since you mentioned it. I can get rid of everything but that pesky Dominoes ad! I'll keep working on it in the future, but for right now I'm giving up on it to work on other apps.

I've just released version 1.0. It's a total redesign and adds support for almost all of the "top 100" free apps in the Windows Store.

Yes, I downloaded all of the top 100 apps and removed ads from them. If you use the ESPN app, I'm sorry that I couldn't get rid of the ads in it. There's just too much and it would take me a month just to try and do it for that one app.

Also, sorry Ron1958, I couldn't figure out how to get rid of that Dominoes ad. I'll keep working towards that one though

So what are you waiting for? Grab v1.0 right now!

I am using Windows 8 RT. I have removed the UAC check part of the script and hence was able to at least get the script to at least progress into the ABCD menu. I managed to change ownership of WindowsApp folder but when I try to block ads, a list of "cannot find file path" comes up.
