I just tested with an unauthorized card and the computer starts without problem.

First. Thank you for looking for me. When I switched the atheros card out I put in an Intel 6235 and when booting I am greeted by a black screen. If there is an error code it is too small to see on the screen. Is a 10" tablet. Card works in my Wife's laptop and friends also.
