Not sure if this is the right place, but hopefully someone can help me out. I have a couple Gateway E-475M laptops that I want to upgrade to new WiFi adapters. I tried upgrading one of them and it sort of worked... I can boot into Windows and install the drivers, but the Intel driver dialog says that my WiFi adapter switch is off (it's not -- and Fn+F2 doesn't enable it either). Basically, it looks like the BIOS is allowing the WiFi adapter to be recognized, but the hardware switch isn't working. It might be something in the Intel drivers that could be tweaked to make it work. Thoughts? EDIT: Nevermind! Figured it out -- the covering pin 20 on the new Ultimate-N 6300 adapter did the trick. Obviously it's now on all the time, but it was never turned off to begin with so no worries there.
Thank you four your quick reply. Sorry for the dumb questions, but does this mean that I need to buy a new wlan card only by HP? Or can I buy a whitelisted card everywhere? Just want to be sure.
