Hey guys, sorry if this is an incorrect spot to post this. I'm completely new to flashing bios and such. I have a Lenovo Ideapad z710 that the wifi card died in recently. I purchased a stock Intel 3160 AC card to replace it to find out that Lenovo has whitelisting in their bios. Again, this is all news to me. I am not sure if what is being done in this topic is what I need but I can't for the life of me figure out a way to flash the bios with the whitelisting removed. I found several topics on various sites showing how to do it but with the z710 bios, I cannot reflash due to various error messages between being non-secure to an invalid image. I just need to be able to use the new wifi card. Motherboard Manufacturer and Model: Lenovo Ideapad z710 - (System Info says baseboard info is unavailable) Bios Revision: Lenovo 7FCN96WW, 5/12/2014 Bios Type: Insyde BIOS /ACPI 2.0 Bios SLIC: (Unsure what this is or how to find it.) Bios Link: Code: support . lenovo . com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/IdeaPad-Z-Series-laptops/IdeaPad-Z710-Notebook/downloads/DS100523 When I run SLIC_Toolkit I get told that the SLIC dump is ok but SLIC OEM ID or Digital Signature Error! - Version is labeled 0.0 and digital signature shows Error. I'm not too sure what other info would be of use for this. The card I purchased is: Code: www . newegg . com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2F83VU2735 The card currently in the system is an Intel 7270 Wireless-N. If there is anything else I can give to get this working let me know. Again sorry for being a noob with this stuff.
thanks for the info MOD was flashed via 1.downgrade to previous version + 2.Intel's fpt utility using Sleep Bug ?
No downgrade needed. First was booting into GRUB and supplying: setup_var 0x4ab 0x0 setup_var 0x1ee 0x1 Then using sleep bug with fpt with flash with fixed bios again. Didn't need to downgrade at all. This laptop does have an issue with GRUB and using the setup_var command though, the prompt will freeze after entering a command so I let it sit for about 2-3 mins, force rebooted back into GRUB again, and then supplied the second command. Same with that, froze again so I let it sit for 2-3 mins then force rebooted and did the sleep bug afterward.
