Hi- I was able to backup the bios OK with winflash, but I couldn't flash the bios. The error message with the bios file named bios.fd is: "Can not open firmware device file." The error message with the bios filed named FvRecovery.fd is "Cannot open new bios file." Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I'm sorry. I'm new to this forum and didn't follow the protocol, it seems. It pertains to Lenovo x120e. @tp4tissue, Procedure to make a backup of your BIOS 1.08: -Download 8fuj01us.exe -execute 8fuj01us.exe and follow intructions, exit "Thinkpad BIOS Update Utility" when offer. -Go in "C:\DRIVERS\FLASH\8fuj01us" folder -Launch winflash.exe, choose "Backup BIOS Only" option, press backup -upload bios file
I haven't flashed a bios in quite a while and my recollection was it's safer to keep a copy of the old bios in case the flash fails.
So, it take it I should just proceed with the flash, correct? Also, does it matter what the filename of the file to be flashed is so long as the extension is .fd?
i'm afraid that this discution will never end, what is the request in the request, just a backup, then you are at the wrong place.
I'm sorry. I have a wwan card I want to use in the x120e which is blocked by the bios. I want to upload a bios fix.
Sorry to have bothered you. I guess I'm a bit bios lame. However, the good news is that I figuered it out myself, flashed the bios, shut down, installed the wwan card, rebooted with no bios warning, installed the wwan drivers and software, and got on the internet with the wwan card. Too cool for schoool. You do great work. Much appreciated.
Thanks anyway. Any idea on what is stopping it from being modded by Andy's tool? Is it the encryption or is it just different to other known BIOSes?
