    I don't know if this has been covered or not (not up for reading 100+ pages), but I have a tidbit that might help others:

    He has the string setup as SUBSYS+DEV+VEN. Friend of mine was trying to figure it out and his DV-9910US (is what he told me it was, it might be under a different designation) didn't have the string setup as such.

    I found it as: SUBSYS+VEN+DEV in file "BIOSCOD02.ROM". There are 2 instances of the string which for this laptop is "3C107A138C161C00" (remote the quotes to use it in a search capacity).

    The original bit is: PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C&SUBSYS_137A103C&REV_01

    Can't comment on if this is the case for other laptops. Hope this helps someone.

    Disclaimer: I haven't popped in the new values yet and had him flash it to his laptop yet. YMMV.
