Giving an old laptop that works great to my little sister but the wlan card went out. Also wondering if the whitelist also prevents larger amounts of RAM to be installed. I would love to go from 512MB to 2GB. If that isn't possible no worries.

    Thank you!

Re: Your BIOS Patch for W520 1.26

    Hi qtm,

I created a DOS (Win98-style) bootable USB key and ran MARK.BAT as you asked. To my delight, I got the Phoenix EFI BIOS Flasher message, and everything seemed to progress quite normally. However, the progress bar was only at 85% when it said "Flash complete, rebooting in 5 seconds." After reboot I got a message that said "EFI error, resetting configuration" and then the system restarted.

Everything was normal after that, so I decided to try to replace a card or two. I still don't have the cards that will end up in the system, so I borrowed a Broadcom 954322b and Sierra 8790 from my Dell. The Broadcom prevented the system from booting, although this time the 1802 error was after the Lenovo splash. There were two beeps and a display of the "offending" Device ID.

I replaced the original WIFI card and added the Sierra card. Not detected.

Thanks for your efforts...I am afraid I will have to search elsewhere! (I don't know how TTAV134 did it...something about Andy's Tool version 1.85. He didn't specify phnxpatch.com or manual modification after that.)

    Thanks again,
    Barrett

    Some notes:

    1. - I noticed that all of the entries in my BIOS for IO Access were reset to Enabled. I'm not sure why that is. I also tried putting in a SIM card to see if that would enable the WWAN card. However, that would be illogical for US CDMA devices, since such devices do not use SIM cards.

    2. - My W520 is still fairly well-built, but it is sad that the internals now look more like those of a Toshiba than those of Thinkpads of old, such as the T41.

    3. - It seems there are options in the BIOS to turn on/off Bluetooth, WIFI, WWAN, and WiMAX. This is surprising, because these switches cannot simply control MiniPCI-E slots, since there aren't enough of them on the laptop. My best guess is that the WIFI switch turns off the PCI-E lanes on both slots. Here is my theory: the WiMAX switch turns off the USB lanes on whichever slot the DeviceID for a WiMAX card is recognized, since WiMAX is available on Intel WIFI cards; the WIFI is on PCI-E and the WiMAX is on USB. The WWAN switch turns off the USB lanes on the full-length slot (WWAN is always on the USB lanes as far as I remember; all WWAN cards I've seen are full-length).

Hello, there's a new BIOS for my laptop. The previous version was already modded by TTAV134 in post 224 here. I honestly don't know if TTAV134 is still active in this thread but if he or anyone can mod the latest F.44 BIOS for my laptop, I would really appreciate it.

    Manufacturer: HP
    -DV6-1350US
    -BIOS revision: F.44 (2011-05-06)
    -BIOS Type: Insyde
    -BIOS link: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52501-53000/sp52884.exe
-Original card: Intel WiFi Link 1000BGN

    Intel WiFi Link 1000 BGN
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0084&SUBSYS_13158086&REV_00
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0084&SUBSYS_13158086
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0084&CC_028000
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0084&CC_0280

-Currently working card with modded F.42A BIOS: Intel Centrino 6250 WiMAX card
    -RW-File: ACPItbls.rw

Please remove WLAN/WWAN whitelist check as before. Thank you in advance!

EDIT: Flashed and tested working. Download no Whitelist BIOS HERE

Hey Lenovo X120e users, I decompose TTAV134's patched bios and create a new one based on 8fuj07us (1.14).
It seems work fine with Linux operation system. Have fun!

I would like to unlock the whitelist so you can accept any type of wireless card because I'm currently running Snow leopard and do not know for sure which wireless card that will work with the current system.
thanks if someone can help me unlock my bios.

    Fail to authenticate image!

    Hi qtm,

First time, I did not see the second link. Sorry! This time I tried the whitelist BIOS.

With either GUI or command line, in both cases I get the error "Fail to authenticate image! Fail: UNSUPPORTED!"

    How do I fix this?

    Barrett

PS - I patched my environment.dll file according to http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/archive/index.php/thread-5988.html and it works great! Thank you so much, qtm! You are the BEST.

If not all, most Intel wireless cards should work under any version of Linux, since the drivers are in the kernel...

    How to Add card?

How does the procedure work? If I want to do by myself?

I followed the instructions at the begging of the post. In this file:36F7DA6E-D4CF-41DE-8140-363BD12A63A8_2_625
I found 3 PCI\VEN_XXXX&DEV_XXXX for 3 cards the bios supports. example: for the broadcom:
    PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727

I found E4142747. Do I just replace it now with 86809100 for the Intel Centrino and let andys tool rebuild the bios? is that all there is too it? THanx.
