I tried it again, and still have the same error. Is there something wrong with my x120e? I have nothing running in the background.

I can try that once I get the time this evening. I've never had to install the official firmware just to install a hacked one before, especially when updating to 1.14. I'm just wondering what changed?

Maybe some local windows modification. Can you flashing from LiveUSB stick with Windows?
I have no windows installed on my Lenovo Thinkpad X120e, so i use LiveUSB stick when i need to update bios.

I hate to break it to you, but I don't think any Dell on record has had a whitelist. I have and use a MC8790V in a Dell Precision M4400, and know for a fact that it runs on the USB pins on the MiniPCI-E slot.

Perhaps you have installed the card in a slot for which the USB leads are not connected? I'm sure you know this, but drivers are available from support.sierra.com. Firmware is a little trickier to find.

I have taken that laptop apart, but I don't remember: are there separate MiniPCI-E slots for WIFI, Bluetooth, and WWAN? Try some of the other slots and enabling all radios in the BIOS. As I recall, there is no physical radio switch on that model, so you may need to figure out other ways of "enabling" the card. Obviously Dell's software won't work on your Sierra model...it will only work for Dell's SonyEricsson WWAN modules.
