@ Espionage724 I appreciate that info and will read up on it and trying this out in the future. Basically all I wanted to do with posting this thread was 'try' to help in some way and not be a freeloader here. But due to the negativity and bashing by comedian (lobo11) I will be hesitant on posting any more threads in the future. I have been given a lot of help in my short time here @MDL by three individuals , abbodi1406, Enthousiast and Tito and I am very grateful.
Cross your heart, I simply do not understand the logic behind stopping things, uninstalling things,I want to know what is being accomplished. Stopping 3 out of 4 is not good enough reason for me to tear OS apart, but that's just me, you are free to do as you wish, and no I am not a comedian. I just say what I think, you do also, so do as you wish.
It's cool dude, I do all the privacy stuff, have Cortana disabled, never use EDGE, basically just want OS to do what it's supposed to, who knows maybe you'll come up with way to stop 4 out of 4, then you can cut me in on all the money you'll make
This is backwards and won't work. You have to stop Cortana in Task Manager first, then rename it so that it doesn't get restarted. BUT When you stop Cortana, you only have a couple of seconds before it is automatically restarted. I've done it, but it's tricky and sometimes it takes a few tries to get it.
Click on rename/remove/move (whatever your choice), once the try again window appears, end the task and click on try again ASAP. But better do it via a script. The problem with Cortana or anything else is, that some updates restore it, so you need to repeat the process. I turn off my PC with the script, so it is OK.
@El_Heffe I see your steps as taken worked for you. Looks like there's more ways than one to do this . I took the same steps #2 & #3 as in OP. I recorded screen with camera so am 101% sure *these steps were taken in this order. *rename cortana folder/folder in use pops up , click try again/end task and cortana is gone from task mgr.
