    Hello!
My machine is around 3 years old and I've formatted it 100 times, give or take a few. Due to the nature of my usage, very large amount of data is copied and pasted between the drives.

I'm thinking to scan and repair entire HDD, if needed, for at least once. What's the best utility for it?

    Thanks!

    Chkdsk /f /r C:

That's all you need unless the situation is really bad and some data are already lost.

I've got two partitions assigned same drive letter, how to deal with that?

If I just put a drive letter in the command, which partition will it scan? and how to scan the other partition with the same drive letter assigned?

No, single OS. And yeah two partitions with the same drive letter.

It's annoying that I can't use links and snips in my post until I get to 20.

    Anyway

You can use mountvol to see the GUID, then use

    chkdsk "\\?\Volume{290e5cf8-xxxx-yyyy-bc01-73f219dczzzz}" /f /r

(the U from GUID stands for Unique ;) )
