must likely even if u get the same mother board....the serial of the board is different or it checks the bios and see the chip serial is different.
No telling, I think they know if you open case, lol They check everything, including waist size shoe size bra size hand size-yes
Nothing, nothing lasts forever... even praying to the thousand gods. That's the game M$ wants, people calling them, then charging them, hehe
I know old thread. but Yesterday I switched out the MB, CPU & RAM on the test rig, it dual boots w/ 7 OSs, 2 are Windows 10. The W10 x64 MS insider OS reactivated once I typed in my (requested) PW. The other Windows 10 x86 w/ ann. update wasn't as easy. I ended up after trying several times, incl using the Win10 key (digital license) I got from using 'Magic Jelly Bean' finally using the Windows 7 key I got from my old TechNet subscription, that worked perfectly. SOoo for anyone trying to activate Win10 after a major HW change try using their Win7 (probably Win8.1 too) key. HTH
Just a thought: The insider preview install reactivated after entering the pw (probably online account?) because it is actually the same as using the activation troubleshooter, login with MSA and the DL gets transfered to the new situation. But the knowledge that earlier used w7/8.x keys could be RE-used is interesting (many believed the key would get unusable after once using it).
I have replaced HDDs on 3 Dell Desktops and 2 were upgrade to Pro replaced the HDD then did a Restore from the LAST Acronis Full Backup. MS bitched for 3 days, then Reset the Digital Activation.
I just swapped HDD for SSD but I cloned the OS across, the cloning failed but I was able to update the duff installation from an ISO, could this be the way to go
Did you remove Product Key from cloned HD after cloning, if not it would not activate on new SSD as it would think Product Key was in use in HD.
No, just cloned and swapped drives. Its activated, had no issues on that front, only problem was the crap cloning software.
