@johnye_pt i take a loock at your 2 files PT_WIN98_115_OEM.iso PT_WIN98_115_OEM_V2.iso 1. where did you get them ? 2. are you realy shure that they ripped from a original CD (not only copy files + remake) i found many points that let me think that they are homebrew - one of them is the boot sektor (1,44MB floppy), both have the same file and some files inside the boot sektor doesn't belong to the cab files inside the CD (date and file mismatch) - all files and folder inside the 2 CD are uppercase (M$ make it not unify - usual some uppercase some lowercase) - both cd are not master with the -o switch (all other original M$ CD from every language i have are master with the -o switch) NOTE: i would suggest that you only put CD Pic's inside your repro if you are realy shure that the Picture belong to the CD-image there are many of differnt win98 pictures on the www - nobody knows which pic belong to wich image (except you have the CD and rip them and make a pic) Picture with Probably bad CD-images do not make an original M$-CD
Funny that you mention it, I was about to take a look at the Windows 98 folder after finishing up with the 95 folder yesterday I don't remember where I got the images for the 98 ISOs, but they were not from the web, probably they came in a RAR ou ZIP along with the ISO. I'll take a look and delete those that I'm not sure. As for the PT ISOs, I'm almost sure I have one of the original CDs and the other came from some dark hole in the internet, but I'll check anyway. By the way, do you have this one? Did not check inside the CABs, but might be from the Java settlement (no Java). Code: 52ec5d1376036bf3f0edfb1ce7647c3bb04dc696aa914597654 198 784 bytesen_win98_oem_v2.iso
i have from 98FE (Java-Removal) Code: 50C9C4B67B4979BFE3B76505A38E7BEDB5B53CB9 *[ENU] win98_b_102_rtm_cd_19981124.iso C7421BD6CE8192C17EB27DA998CEBB8EE794A3BF *[ENU] win98_b_111_msdn_cd_19981124.iso 52EC5D1376036BF3F0EDFB1CE7647C3BB04DC696 *[ENU] win98_b_115_oem_cd_19981124.iso E23A9AD07BD60F4EBFDC7F7CA5CF7998605D88A2 *[CHS] win98_b_115_oem_cd_19981124.iso @johnye_pt it would be very handy if your svf include SHA1 and not MD5 hash you (and we all deal with SHA1) use: -nomd5 -sha1 switches for smv.exe or check options inside GUI
I've just completed updating the folder. Yes, the PT ISOs are original, because I have the first one and made the scans myself, and the other ISO I got from a Portuguese forum back in the days. I'm almost sure the images for 101 and 102 came from the same place as the ISOs. I also added 102 v2 with scans and 115 OEM with Plus. I don't have the 2nd one: win98_b_111_msdn_cd_19981124.iso Thanks for the tip, I'll change my batch and recreate all SVFs when possible, but it might take a while... EDIT: Updated my XPatch tool to create SVFs with SHA1 instead of MD5, and Windows 98 SVFs are now based on SHA1.
I finally got the 116 ISO right, but vanelle's instructions were incomplete or not accurate enough. - use 115 as base folder (most of the files/folders are lowercase, unlike 116 which are all uppercase) - get autorun.inf+cpqar.exe from 116 and make them lowercase - delete folders TOOLS\ADMIN\ and TOOLS\NETTOOLS\ - delete files inside Win98\ but keep Win98\tour\ and WIN98\ols\ - copy Win98 files from 116 and rename some to lowercase as in 115 Then create the ISO on the command line ("for" saves current time zone, 2nd tzutil restores it) - for /f "tokens=*" %a in ('tzutil /g') do set "ctz=%a" - tzutil /s "W. Europe Standard Time_dstoff" - cdimage-2.39.exe -l"Win98 SE" -j1 -h -o -t04/23/1999,22:22:00 115_folder 116.ISO - tzutil /s "%ctz%" Code: e100a72a4097ae6c1e2f38aceab2590bfd8fb4141b4188ba652,224,512 Also, all Windows 9x/Me SVFs now have SHA1 instead of MD5, some have scans of the original cd and/or box, and there's a text file with info about the ISOs on each folder.
So the general OEM edition contains CPQAR.EXE which looks like to me it is a COMPAQ file... Are you guys sure it's the legit image ? Anyway, thank you very much johnnye_pt, i'm gonna try your method. I knew the vanelle's one was incomplete ! On another topic, can someone confirm or infirm if the Windows 98 FE OEM With Plus! of johnny_pt is legit or not ? Then, when i finish to organize my files, i'll upload what i have.
lol it seems that johnye_pt only fishing for compliments @All I'll send him a file with all hash value and all upper lowercase letters for all files and folders Yes you did not look inside (who believes this, also believe in the santa claus) EDID: yes i know iam the bad boy and he is the good boy (but this don't care)
Nope, nothing like that. I did not look inside, if MEGA links could count the number of times a file was downloaded, your link would count zero times. I was using 116 as base but couldn't make it work, so I decided to try 115 as base and it worked. We did ask you several times and you did avoid a direct answer. Nonetheless, credit where credit is due, so thank you for the link for the modified compaq ISO and the instructions to recreate the untouched version of the ISO
There is no need to dispute about it. In this case, i asked the same question many times over months. Noone wanted to answer me, so that's normal i am happy when he finally gives me the key. I totally understand your reasons in being mad against leechers, so i understand why you gave me no hints. But so in this case, i had no real reasons to thanks you. But i greatly thanks you and the other major posters for all the expertise you gave on this topics Anyway, back on topic. Does anyone has an educated opinion on the 2 questions i posted above ?
Are these the questions? OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. You can find generic OEM ISOs in the same way you can find OEM ISOs tied to a specific manufacturer, in this case Compaq. My guess is no generic 116 OEM ISO was found yet, if it even exists. I found it on an FTP along other untouched ISOs with scans, although there were a few modified ones too (ultraISO, rebuilt, etc). This one seemed untouched so I uploaded it too. 98SE With Plus! includes cd and floppy scans so that's certainly original
