    Thanks the bios worked like a charm. The weird thing is when you look at the screen when the is booting up its shows the bios version as
    NCD1221 BF Ultra Asus_Flash. It really doesn't matter, its just something I noticed. When I flashed the bios I even took the the description off and left the bios ID as NCD1221.

    one of my older boards after being modded also posts the asus flash on the screen i didn't mind it that way ,that way i can't forget what oem bios files i needed for my board :D

    thanks for this but have flashed bios then run oembios.exe - says none of 66 available keys will validate windows - does not show any particular brand
    xplic doesn't offer any help (or I'm a silly newbie)
    Any ideas will be appreciated

    You did not flash your bios correctly, AMI_SLIC, andyp or my mod have SLP1 in, so check your flash parameters.

    Bios was originally f1 - now shows as f3 as per new bios
