I'm still pretty new to this so I'll try to explain the best I can. I couldn't get into windows so I couldn't find out if the bios had the string in it or not. I'm totally unfamiliar with SysteMax and since I saw it had a regular board and not one of those weird Dell ones that have almost no information I figured it didn't have the string. So seeing what you said, "9509CAD5" will work from OEMBIOS.NET? I don't have any OEM cd's, only a VLK that I convert. You mentioned using the HP cd, is SysteMax owned by HP or something? I don't get the reference there. Later today I will install the VLK with "9509CAD5" and post back on how it went. Thanks.
Hmmm. Well I installed Windows XP Pro VLK and converted it to OEM with the "9509CAD5" files and it's passed validation 3 times even with updates so I think I'll call this good. Thanks for giving me the string 911medic because the VLK to OEM program wasn't giving it to me so you saved me some hassle there
You mentioned in your first post that the computer was really messed up. From the sound of it you meant the BIOS. You could flash it with the clean BIOS and then use 911medic HP OEM DMI Boot CD which supports tatooing the HP string into the BIOS. By the sounds of it you just needed to use the correct OEM BIOS files for an existing DMI string? Either way, it would appear everything has worked out fine in the end.
Nah man, the Windows install. Had to re-install and I don't have the CD's for most of the machines that I come into contact with. Yea, I only needed the files to add to my Windows install. It works great now I don't know why the program wouldn't tell me if the BIOS had the string and if so what kind... kinda weird but like I said, I'm new to this and still learning.
The tool doesnt have systemax string in its .ini. It doesnt search for it. It doesnt pick out all strings, only the ones it has data for. There are a few that were found to be around after the tool was built..
The tool only supports 66 strings, there must be more than that surely? It couldn't find one on my Fujitsu laptop but CrystalDMI showed it up and the OEMBIOS files activated it no problem. Is there a more up to date ini file that can be added using all the current strings from the OEMBIOS website?
SLP is inserted all right, I have tried it last night using winflash! thank you Zort for checking the SLP.
