i laffed couldn't help it then why the 2 diff file sizes and 2 diff hashes ? surely those 2 sets of values came from somewhere ? could autocrc b used 2 tell which is legit ?
Like i said, official checksums are still missing. AutoCRC is not reliable, it indicates that CDImage was used to master image but since these tools are available, anyone can create a new image and present it as legit with reference to AutoCRC but still be modified/homebrew. Not all images from Microsoft has AutoCRC embedded either. Official SHA1 is always what you should be shooting for in general.
ah i thouhgt it was some special sauce ms themsevles injected i figgered a overdump would b a honest mistake but if cdimage autocrc's automatically... so much 4 that theory ms need 2 hurry up & get on sha2 train choo choo attacks on sha1 getting less theoretical by the day
Yes, AutoCRC is "special sauce" from Microsoft. Overdumped means it was dumped from a physical optical media, yes, but that media could initially be a homebrew as well. No, CDImage doesn´t automatically add AutoCRC, that is done with this switch: -x compute and encode "AutoCRC" values in image. Latest dump from MVS, you will see they are in SHA1 and recent images in SHA256 as well. If you have any particular images you are not sure about PM me and i can see if i can help you verifing.
