Thanks for your input. I realize now afudos was the way to go. However, I'm still scared to restart because I'm not sure if asusupdate flashed eeprom. Is there any way to tell if it did? Do you know why I got the "failed to verify" error in asusupdate? Thanks.
I work at a computer shop that mainly distributes asus mainboards and we find this problem a lot with asus update, it can just be a program running on your machine when you do the flash causes it, like an anti virus program, which is why its best to close everything down before using it, we've found that if you get that error, asus update still lets you flash again and again if you don't leave the program, and sometimes if you flash 3 or 4 times it will eventuially go thru without error. but if you end up having to reboot you should be able to recovery with bootblock recovery, especially seeing asus update doesn't really flash your bootblock. P5k would have to be still under warranty anyway, so back to the shop you go, wewps, my mobo won't post, i don't know why!
Thanks for all the help Yen, for without you I personally wouldn't be able to mod anything. You've been able to teach us all a lot! Glad you'll still be around however.
Because Asus Update has compatibility issues with newest bioses. Try to download a new version or a previous version and re-do the flash again.
